Litter
Many people will recall an early KESAB campaign - “Drop something, sport?” Back in 1966, litter was the primary focus of KESAB. Our name stands for Keep South Australia Beautiful, after all.
Today, our activities cover a far broader spectrum than litter but this topic remains a very significant issue for all South Australians. It is why we have conducted quarterly litter audits across 151 sites in South Australia since 1998 and contribute to the The Keep Australia Beautiful National Litter Index, Australia’s only national, annual, quantitative measure of what litter occurs where and in what volume. Over 950 sites across Australia are visited twice per year to create an annual report on litter in each State.
Whatever other programs KESAB runs, litter will always be a key focus for us. Reducing littering is the very basis for protecting our whole environment.
