"Recycling Makes Cents"
![]()
“Recycling Makes Cents” is a short (9 minute) DVD produced by UniSA multi media student Kelly Rivett in conjunction with KESAB and launched in September 2008.
The DVD traces the collection systems for drink containers with a deposit from schools, home recycling and recycling depots to Statewide Recycling for processing.
The passage of plastic PET, HDPE drink bottles, aluminium cans and Liquid Paper Board milk cartons through Statewide is detailed as they are processed into blocks for collection and transport to recycling facilities.
Recycling into new products ‘closes the loop’ and shows that these items “really are recycled!”
“Recycling Makes Cents” educates and encourages separation and recycling in schools to collect 10 cent deposit containers for fund raising and reducing material to landfill.
“Recycling Makes Cents” can be purchased for $12 per copy plus GST. There is no postage charge for schools. A lesser quality version can be viewed in our Waste and Recycling Education Resources section.
